When I adopted Sunny

from the shelter,

I was determined to do things “right.”

A black and tan puppy with floppy ears and brown eyes, lying on the ground with its front paws stretched out, outdoors on a sunny day with a brick building and trees in the background.

In reality, I ended up doing a lot of things wrong. I did all the training, I educated myself, I went to the classes. I even obtained a mentor in someone who worked with & rehabilitated hundreds of shelter dogs.

I was still left with a sweet, perfectly behaved, obedient dog who lost his mind when I left my apartment. I was one bark away from eviction.

When I was home, he screamed obscenities at passing dogs on our busy city block. He jumped and struggled to recover from the sounds that surrounded us on all sides.

Leaving him for work wasn’t an option. I was desperate, and ended up bringing him with me to work every day, after countless conversations with my boss & team.

All the training in the world wouldn’t get me the results I was after, because I was missing the key piece.

Sunny needed emotional stability & security. After the first year of his life was left in turmoil, the metro DC apartment we were living in perpetuated his emotional dysregulation and insecure attachment.

Moving out to the suburbs, facilitating Sunny’s welfare needs, fostering secure attachment, and getting his underlying medical needs under control allowed him to regulate his emotions. I was also able to leave my corporate 9-5 and begin my own business: Peak Condition Dog Training.

When I started PCDT, I knew one thing: I needed to provide to others what I wished I had with Sunny.

Our daycare program is catered toward dogs just like him. The dogs that can’t be left home alone, and also don’t thrive in busy play-groups. The dogs that would rather sleep on the couch all day, but need a human near by.

My home has the ability to be your dog’s home-away-from home. Dogs have the option to spend time in my large, fenced, shady backyard, snooze on a dog bed in a private room, or play with one of my dogs if they’re both comfortable.

You receive multiple updates throughout the day, with a detailed & honest report as to how your pup did. There won’t be a million other dogs here either—my daycare program is highly selective, ensuring your dog receives 1:1 care & I am home with them all day.

Not sure if your dog will do well?

I require a trial afternoon, free of charge, to ensure you and your dog are comfortable before you spend a dime.
